Dr Paula Lopez Garcia
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
I am a dedicated Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience across diverse healthcare systems in the UK and internationally. My practice centers on integrating psychotherapeutic approaches within child psychiatry, with a particular focus on the complex interplay between physical and mental health, alongside addressing relational and emotional challenges. Within the NHS, I have worked extensively with children from infancy through late adolescence in varied settings, including acute services, inpatient units, outreach programs, and community care.

My expertise encompasses integrative assessment, formulation, and care planning, as well as neurodevelopmental disorder assessments (including autism and ADHD) and evidence-based interventions such as pharmacotherapy, child psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Adolescents (MBT-A).
My approach is rooted in compassion and collaboration, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where children, adolescents, and their families can navigate challenges and foster resilience. By working closely with families and multidisciplinary professionals, I deliver holistic, coordinated care tailored to each young person’s unique needs, empowering them to thrive. Fluent in English and Spanish, I offer culturally sensitive support to diverse families, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity. My commitment is to promote emotional well-being and facilitate meaningful progress for every child, adolescent, and family on their mental health journey.
