Melissa Powenski
Clinical Nurse Specialist & CBT Psychotherapist

I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and BABCP-accredited CBT Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience working across mental health services. Since 2008, I’ve worked in a range of NHS settings including inpatient units, community teams, and online therapy platforms. My career began in special schools and pupil referral units after completing a BSc in Psychology, where I developed a strong foundation in supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

I hold postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Psychoanalytic Observation Studies, along with additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I have a particular interest and expertise in working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism and ADHD, offering adapted, neuroaffirmative approaches to therapy.

In addition to my clinical work, I’m a Level 3 Personal Trainer, women’s health specialist, and Pilates instructor. I believe deeply in the mind-body connection and often integrate principles of movement, breathwork, and body awareness into my therapeutic approach to support emotional regulation, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

My work is grounded in evidence-based practice, clinical curiosity, and a compassionate, person-centred approach that supports meaningful and sustainable change.
