Lorraine Coady
Specialist Therapeutic Teacher and SENDCo
I am a specialist therapeutic teacher and SENDCo, and have enjoyed over 20 years of working with young people, families and staff in the NHS and UK schools.
An experienced leader at a local and national level in targeted care and transforming systems, I have a particular interest in multi-disciplinary collaboration and reflective practice.
I hold postgraduate qualifications in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies and in Consulting & Leading in Organisations (Tavistock), am a contributing author for ‘Including Learners with Medical Needs in School’ (Routledge, 2025) and am the Education Representative for the QNIC Advisory Board, The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
I continue to work part time for my local authority as the Senior Mental Health Lead and Specialist Task Force Lead.

I am passionate about improving outcomes and choices for young people by building relationships in which young people feel safe, seen and heard. My approach is person-centred, psychoanalytic and systemic; helping each young person and their family make the best decisions for themselves in the context of their experiences, relationships and environment.
